Privacy Policy

SaveMyPatch is designed as a local-first application for documenting modular synthesizer modules, racks, and patches. This policy explains what information the app handles and when information can leave the device.

Information stored on the device

SaveMyPatch stores module templates, patches, rack definitions, cable connections, control settings, notes, imported manuals, reference images, saved chats, and application preferences locally on the device. The app does not require a SaveMyPatch account.

An OpenAI API key entered in Settings is stored in Apple Keychain. It is not included in module exports, patch exports, logs, or screenshots generated by the app. The key can be removed in Settings.

On-device processing

PDF text extraction and optical character recognition are performed on device using Apple frameworks. When available and selected, Apple Foundation Models processing also occurs on device.

Optional OpenAI processing

OpenAI functionality is optional and is initiated only by an explicit user action. When the user selects OpenAI and requests an analysis or asks a question, SaveMyPatch may send the information needed to perform that request to the OpenAI API. Depending on the selected feature, this may include:

Before the first Ask request, SaveMyPatch explains this transfer and asks for permission. That permission can be withdrawn in Settings, after which the app asks again before sending another question.

SaveMyPatch requests that OpenAI not store generated response objects by sending store: false. OpenAI may nevertheless retain API inputs and outputs in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days unless the user’s OpenAI API project has approved different retention controls. OpenAI’s processing, retention, and deletion of API requests are governed by OpenAI’s applicable terms, privacy policy, and API data controls. Users supply and control their own OpenAI API key. Removing local chats or the API key from SaveMyPatch does not delete data that OpenAI is independently required or permitted to retain; requests concerning that data must follow OpenAI’s applicable process.

Manual downloads

When a user explicitly enters an HTTPS manual URL, SaveMyPatch connects to that address to download the requested document. The operator of that server may receive ordinary connection information such as the device’s IP address. SaveMyPatch does not download manuals in the background.

Information we do not collect

SaveMyPatch does not include advertising, analytics, telemetry, cross-app tracking, audio recording, user accounts, or background network activity. The developer does not sell personal information collected through the app.

Sharing and exports

Users can intentionally export modules, patches, patch sheets, and chats using the system sharing interface. The user chooses the destination and is responsible for the information included in an export. Imported manual PDF files are not embedded in module or patch JSON exports.

Deletion

Users can delete modules, patches, imported content, and saved chats within the app where the corresponding delete action is available. The OpenAI API key can be removed in Settings. Removing the app deletes information stored in its application container, subject to normal device backup and operating-system behavior.

Children

SaveMyPatch is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the app’s functionality or applicable requirements change. The effective date at the top identifies the current version.
